Letter from the Editor

Dear Reader,

As graduation is approaching, I’m now writing my final Letter to reflect on this current time and the growth of Pixel Journal this past year.

Being a graduating senior, I’m now faced mostly with choices of what I’m going to do next. Some things will be coming to an end; evidently, I will no longer be part of the Pixel Journal team. Sometimes I fear no longer having the avenues to pursue everything I want to pursue, but I’ve recognized there is no particular college or degree program or set of activities that will suit my needs perfectly. Whatever happens, I know my future experiences will contribute to my learning journey in some way, and in the process, I hope that I’ll have made some kind of mark. This was the way that I first thought about contributing to the Pixel Journal and later the prospect of overseeing it: I’ve learned much about the interviewing, writing, and storytelling processes and the nuances of an effective publication, and I’m excited to see how the Journal continues to grow from where I’ve left it.

I’m delighted to announce that Rachel Hu will be Pixel Journal’s next editor-in-chief. This year, her remarkable thoughtfulness and dedication have tremendously helped the development of Pixel Journal as a publication aiming to capture and involve the school community. Rachel, I look forward to seeing how you’ll find and incorporate new ways to facilitate discussion around the OHS experience while leading and inspiring the Pixel Journal team, as you’ve already been doing in your time with the Journal thus far.

This issue features articles on several wonderful members of our school community—Apsara Kasiraman ’22, Dr. Failor, and our Stories editor Shivek Narang ’21—alongside our monthly playlist. This May issue will be the second-to-last issue of this school year, the final one before our annual graduation issue, and as always, I hope that you will enjoy reading our latest articles.

As I conclude my final letter from the editor, I’d like to thank our sponsor, Mr. Bennette, for the incredible guidance and thoughtful comments he has provided us throughout the school year. And to everyone who has contributed to Pixel Journal or has otherwise been a part of Pixel Journal this school year—as an interviewee, a survey respondent, or simply a reader with an open mind—thank you for all you’ve brought to Pixel Journal this past year and for your help in building the Journal as a publication.

Cheers,

Paige

Editor-in-Chief
