OHS Valentine's Day Events

Happy Valentine’s Day, Pixels! OHS creatively celebrated this day of love through meaningful club-sponsored events and classic eRose messages.

The Literature Club hosted its annual Valentine’s Day Themed Litfest on February 10. In the spirit of love and appreciation, both students and teachers were encouraged to share poems and prose that they believed to be meaningful. Original pieces were also encouraged, and many participants took this to heart. The event itself was clear in what was going to be presented, but participants still had the flexibility to share a large range of writing. Through vastly different styles of prose and poetry, students were able to become vulnerable through literature and creative writing. The event itself was not only a way to share and open up to peers and teachers, but it was also an immersive learning experience for aspiring writers and poets.

The Spooky Club gave OHSers a unique way of celebrating the holiday of love—with horror! In keeping up with all aspects of love, students had a chance to share their romance “horror” stories with each other, whether it be a misfortune or a spooky coincidence. In sharing their “horror” stories, students bonded over broken hearts, eerie fortuities, and embarrassing encounters.

In addition to club-sponsored events, OHS kept in tradition with many brick-and-mortar schools, as individual valentines were distributed to OHS students. Similar to the eKudos, eRoses were collected through google forms and sent out in waves. Students were given the chance to appreciate their peers through eRoses in a similar fashion to traditional valentines.

Whether it was through shared poetic experience, spooky and romantic retellings, or receiving an eRose, the OHS student body found meaningful ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
